February is the second-wettest month in Bali on the long-run numbers, 289.8 mm at the airport against 350.7 mm in January, and for 2027 BMKG expects the rainy season to peak in February across most of the island. The mornings are still often usable and the rain tends to arrive later in the day. Imlek on 6 February brings a three-day Indonesian weekend and more visitors from China and the rest of Asia, and Nyepi on 8 March closes the airport for a day, so a trip that runs into March needs planning around it.

Is February a good time to visit Bali?
Yes, for a trip built on the inland half of the island and on mornings. February is the second-wettest month, 289.8 mm at the airport on the 1991-2020 normals, and BMKG expects the 2026/2027 rain peak in February for most of Bali. Waterfalls and rafting are at their best and the island is quieter than in the dry season.

Top picks from this guide
#1
The Ayung river
The Ayung keeps its wet-season flow through February, so the rapids are livelier than in the dry months and you finish soaked either way. Rafting is from $25 with gear and hotel pickup, about two hours on the water.
#2
Ubud's temples and terraces
Temples, craft villages and the Tegalalang terraces carry on in light rain, and the morning is usually clear enough for the views. The Ubud route is 10 hours for $65 per car for up to five, with entrance tickets $22 per person on top and lunch paid on the spot.
#3
Waterfalls at full power
February is still peak flow for the river-fed falls. Go before noon, before the afternoon storms turn the water brown and the steps slippery, and wear shoes with grip. Our waterfalls by season guide lists which falls hold their colour after heavy rain.
#4
Imlek in Bali
Imlek, the Chinese New Year 2578, is a national holiday on Saturday 6 February 2027, with collective leave on Friday 5 February. Bali's Chinese temples hold New Year prayers, and visitors from China and the rest of Asia arrive for the holiday: in February 2026, when Imlek fell in the middle of the month, arrivals from China were up 98.54% on a year earlier.
#5
Mount Batur with a fallback
Guides run most February mornings; the risk is cloud over the sunrise and a slippery upper trail. The jeep and hot spring tour is $55 meeting in Kintamani or $70 with hotel pickup, and from four guests each person pays 10% less. Booking needs no prepayment, so keep a second morning free in case the first is clouded out.
#6
The east-coast surf
The west-to-northwest monsoon still puts Kuta, Canggu and the Bukit's west reefs onshore in February, while Sanur, Serangan, Nusa Dua and Keramas are clean most mornings. Surf lessons are from $35.
Is February a good time to visit Bali?
Yes, if the trip is built on land and on mornings. February is the second-wettest month on the long-run numbers, 289.8 mm at Ngurah Rai airport on the 1991-2020 normals, and BMKG expects the 2026/2027 season to peak in February 2027 across most of Bali. The rain usually comes as a heavy burst in the afternoon or evening after a usable morning, the mean temperature is 28.0°C, and the sea stays warm.
The plan that works is the January one: inland days at the core, one sea day early in the trip with a spare day behind it, and outdoor plans before 14:00. February is also quieter than the dry season: BPS counted 492,289 foreign arrivals in February 2026 and 472,070 in March, against more than half a million in the busy months.
How much does it rain in Bali in February?
On the Tokyo Climate Center's 1991-2020 normals for Ngurah Rai, February has 289.8 mm of rain, after 350.7 mm in January and before 231.1 mm in March; April drops to 107.4 mm as the dry season begins. A strong monsoon can still string several wet days together, which is why anything on a boat needs a spare day.
For 2026/2027, BMKG said on 22 September 2026 that a very strong El Niño would bring the rainy season late and, in more than half of Indonesia by area, make it shorter than normal. For Bali it put the peak in January 2027 for the central part of the island and February 2027 for most of Bali.
| Month | Rain, 1991-2020 normal | Mean temperature | Sunrise in Denpasar | Foreign arrivals, last season |

| January | 350.7 mm | 27.9°C | 06:03 on the 1st, 06:18 on the 31st | 502,205 (January 2026) |
| February | 289.8 mm | 28.0°C | 06:18 on the 1st, 06:24 on the 28th | 492,289 (February 2026) |
| March | 231.1 mm | 28.0°C | about 06:24 all month | 472,070 (March 2026) |

When is Imlek in 2027, and what changes?
Imlek, the Chinese New Year 2578, falls on Saturday 6 February 2027 and is a national holiday; Friday 5 February is collective leave, so Indonesia gets a three-day weekend. Both dates are fixed in the joint ministerial decree on 2027 holidays signed on 15 September 2026.
In Bali that means busier flights, roads and attractions over 5-7 February and more visitors from China and the rest of Asia around the holiday. The effect shows in the numbers: BPS counted 492,289 foreign arrivals in February 2026, 9.23% more than a year earlier, with arrivals from China up 98.54%. Book drivers and boats for that weekend early.
Ramadan and Nyepi: what February sets up
Eid al-Fitr 1448 falls on 10-11 March 2027, with collective leave on 9, 12 and 15 March, which puts the start of Ramadan in the second week of February. Bali is mostly Hindu and daily life here changes little, but travel to and from Java gets busy in the days before Eid.
Nyepi, the day of silence, is Monday 8 March 2027. For 24 hours from 06:00 the airport closes, roads and ports shut and everyone stays on their hotel grounds. If a February trip runs into March, arrive at least a day before or leave at least a day after; our Nyepi guide covers what actually closes.
Which tours work best in February?
The river and the interior. Rafting on the Ayung from $25 runs at high water. The Ubud route, $65 per car plus $22 per person in tickets, and the UNESCO heritage tour both carry on in light rain.
Mount Batur runs most mornings with cloud as the risk; our Batur rainy season guide is honest about the odds. The sea needs the most flexibility: put the Nusa Penida west tour, $49 per car on the island plus $17 per person for the return fast boat, or Manta Point from $29, early in the trip with a spare day behind it, because captains cancel or reroute when the swell comes up.
