Manta Point snorkelling
Same early start as the island tours. The manta trip is from $29 per person with guide and gear, $46 with the return fast boat, and hotel pickup is $34 per car. Mantas are at the cleaning station all year; the sea decides the day.

The island and volcano tours collect from the Bukit as part of the standard route: Nusa Penida, the manta trip and all three Mount Batur formats. For the full-day car routes, Ubud, UNESCO and Tanah Lot, the published pickup areas stop at Jimbaran and Nusa Dua; from Uluwatu the exact pickup time is confirmed on WhatsApp the day before, based on where on the Bukit you stay. A car and driver is the flexible option for everything else.

What is close: the Bukit itself
The cliffs and the beaches. The Uluwatu temple is 20-40 minutes from most Bukit hotels, and the Kecak runs daily around 18:00, so the best sunset in the south is an evening rather than a trip. The surf is the Bukit's other reason. The famous waves, Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Bingin, are reef breaks for experienced surfers, clean on the west-facing side from April to October; beginners should learn on the sand in Kuta or Canggu first. The long days from the Bukit
Everything off the peninsula is a drive. Sanur port is 60-90 minutes away, so Nusa Penida days start earliest here: the west tour from $49 per car collects you among the first of the morning, and the manta trip is from $29 per person. Mount Batur is 1.5-2.5 hours away with a pickup by 01:30; the jeep at $60 with pickup is the format we suggest from here, because the drive is the hardest part of the trip.
Tanah Lot is 1.5-2 hours each way, which makes a sunset-only run a late evening; from the Bukit, the cliff temple is the better sunset. The airport is 45-90 minutes depending on when you land, and most of the variable part is the climb onto the Bukit beyond Jimbaran; the airport to Uluwatu guide has the details.
What we would not book from Uluwatu
A Gili day trip. Padang Bai is 2-3 hours from Uluwatu, before the boat; if the islands matter, move north or east for a night, or stay on the islands. Tanah Lot as a quick sunset is the second: the cliff temple on your doorstep is the better evening.
And a beginner surf session on the reefs. Take a lesson on sand first; the Bukit's waves will still be there on the next trip.
