Bali's 2027 calendar has three kinds of dates: fixed holidays and Hindu holy days, festival dates already announced, and festivals that have not announced yet. The fixed ones include Galungan on 13 January and 11 August, Nyepi on 8 March, a ten-day national break from 6 to 15 March, Saraswati on 29 May and Christmas on 25 December. Announced so far are BaliSpirit on 22-25 April, a resort concert week on 22-29 May, the Ubud Village Jazz Festival on 6-7 August and the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival on 20-24 October.

Top picks from this guide
#1
Nyepi week, 6-15 March
Nyepi is Monday 8 March, the ogoh-ogoh parades are on the evening before, and Ngembak Geni on Tuesday 9 March ends the restrictions. Eid al-Fitr follows on 10-11 March, so national days off run from Saturday 6 to Monday 15 March. The airport closed for 24 hours on Nyepi in 2025 and 2026. Our Nyepi 2027 guide covers arrival and departure.
#2
Galungan and Kuningan, January and August
Galungan is Wednesday 13 January and Wednesday 11 August 2027, with Kuningan on Saturday 23 January and Saturday 21 August. Neither is a national holiday. Munggu's Mekotek procession is held on every Kuningan, and ngelawang Barong troupes walk between the two days. Our Galungan and Kuningan guide explains what changes for visitors.
#3
Ubud's festival season
The BaliSpirit Festival is on 22-25 April, the Ubud Village Jazz Festival on 6-7 August and the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival on 20-24 October 2027, all announced by the festivals themselves. The Ubud Food Festival had no 2027 date by 2 November; its 2026 edition ran from 28 to 31 May. Book Ubud rooms and drivers as soon as a date is public.
#4
Kite season in Sanur, July
The Rare Angon Festival filled the sky over Mertasari Beach from 23 to 26 July 2026, with kite flyers from 23 countries, more than 1,000 traditional Balinese kites and night flying with live music on the second day, according to Bali Post. The 2027 dates had not been announced. Sanur's kite festival ran on 11-14 August in 2022, 20-21 July in 2024 and 23-26 July in 2026.
What kinds of dates are in the Bali events calendar for 2027?
Three kinds, and we mark each one. Fixed dates are the national holidays, from the joint decree of three ministers signed on 15 September 2026, which lists 18 national holidays and 8 days of collective leave, and the Balinese holy days. The holy days follow the 210-day Pawukon cycle, so we checked the 2027 list against dates Bali Post reported for 2025 and 2026: Tumpek Landep on 18 April 2026, 14 November 2026 and 12 June 2027, Tumpek Wariga on 23 May 2026 and 19 December 2026, and Galungan on 17 June 2026, 13 January 2027 and 11 August 2027 are each exactly 210 days apart. Announced dates are festivals whose own websites give 2027 dates. Not announced are all the others, and for them we give the dates of the last edition, which is a guide only, because festival dates move.
Three limits. The Minister of Religious Affairs sets the final dates of Eid by a separate decision, so treat 10-11 March and 17 May as final only once announced. The hours of the Nyepi closure are announced shortly before: in 2026 the joint appeal came out on 6 March, 13 days before Nyepi. And the days off that Bali gives for Galungan are set by a governor's circular that we had not found for 2027 by 3 November. Our month-by-month guides go deeper: Bali in January, February, March and April.

Which Bali festivals have announced their 2027 dates?
Only a few had by 2 November 2026. The table gives the 2027 date where it exists and the date of the last edition where it does not. A last-edition date is a guide to the season, not a promise: organisers shift festivals by days or weeks, and some change venue.
| Festival | Where | 2027 dates | Last edition | Source of the date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BaliSpirit Festival | Ubud | 22-25 April; community day on the 22nd | 15-19 April 2026 | Festival website; The Bali Sun |

Retrieved 2-3 November 2026. The Bali government normally publishes its calendar of events for the year in January; the 2026 one was reported by ANTARA on 13 January 2026.
Some of the best-known days are not festivals at all but Balinese traditions tied to a holy day, so their dates follow from the calendar. Mekotek in Munggu is held every 210 days on Kuningan, so on 23 January and 21 August 2027, according to Bali Post. Omed-omedan, the Sesetan tradition run by the youth group of Banjar Kaja, was held on Ngembak Geni in 2026, so Tuesday 9 March is the day to expect it. Ngelawang troupes walk between Galungan and Kuningan. None had published a 2027 programme.
Which months are busiest in Bali in 2027?
July to September, on the foreign-arrival numbers, and the long national breaks on the domestic side. BPS Bali counted 697,809 foreign visitors in July 2026, 685,994 in August and 650,169 in September, and 6,948,754 in the whole of 2025, according to ANTARA. December 2025 had 572,668. Bali's own school-year break from 28 June to 10 July 2027 adds local travel to the same weeks.
The domestic peaks are the runs of national days off: 6 to 15 March, 25 to 28 March, 15 to 20 May and 24 to 26 December. The March run is the largest, because Nyepi falls inside it, and the airport closes for the day. Five months have no national day off: April, July, September, October and November. Our guide to Indonesia's 2027 public holidays lists every day off, and Bali in November shows what a quiet month looks like.
How do you plan around the big dates?
Book flights and boats first for 6 to 15 March and 15 to 20 May, and do not plan a tight connection on 9 March, when the airport should reopen if the 2026 hours repeat. Our Nyepi 2027 guide covers the closure, the parades and the days either side. An airport transfer is from $15 per car, and it is worth booking before the break starts.
For Galungan and Kuningan, expect busier roads to Kintamani, Bedugul and Penglipuran and check that a specific temple is open before you drive to it. A private car with driver from $59 per car lets the plan change at breakfast, and the Ubud route at $65 per car plus $22 per person in tickets works well on ceremony days with a driver who knows the back lanes.
For the Ubud festivals, book rooms as soon as the date is public. When a festival you want has not announced yet, plan the trip around the season in the last-edition column and check the festival's website again in the new year.
