Boards fit, the driver waits while you surf, and when Batu Bolong is crowded he moves you along the coast. A private car with driver is from $59 per car for a flexible 10-12 hour day, priced per vehicle rather than per person.
Which tours pick up from Canggu?
All of the ones in the table below. Canggu is in the standard pickup area of our day tours, and it is the base where planning the evening before matters most: the west is close, and nearly everything else is a long drive through Kuta or along Sunset Road. On the narrow beach lanes at peak hours the driver may ask to meet you on the main road; the exact spot is agreed on WhatsApp the day before.
Prices are either per car or per person. What is close to Canggu: the west coast
Tanah Lot is the clearest win. It is about 13 km and 30-50 minutes from Canggu, against 60-90 from Seminyak and 1.5-2 hours from Uluwatu, so the sea temple at sunset is an evening out rather than a day. The surf is the other. The beaches from Canggu to Kuta break over sand and the water stays warm all year, so a private beginner lesson from $35 is a morning, not a trip; the instructor chooses between Batu Bolong and the gentler beaches further south. Everything that is not on the west coast is a drive: Uluwatu can take 2h30-3h at peak and about an hour late in the evening, which is why we suggest the cliffs as their own day from here, not an add-on.
The long days from Canggu
The boats are the first one. Every fast boat to Nusa Penida leaves from Sanur, and from Canggu that drive is 60-90 minutes, against 30-50 from Seminyak, so the pickup comes earlier and the day ends later. It is still a good day: the west tour is from $49 per car for up to six, and Nusa Penida from Canggu sets out the morning.
Mount Batur is the second. Canggu sits in the 1.5-2.5 hour band to Kintamani, so the driver arrives at about 01:30, a full hour before an Ubud guest, and the jeep formats, $60 with pickup or $70 with the hot springs, turn both legs into sleep. Ubud is the third: 29 km that take 1-1.5 hours, so the Ubud route from $65 per car is a long but comfortable day. Rafting on the Ayung is about 42 km and 2 hours each way; the numbers by area are in rafting from Seminyak, Canggu and Nusa Dua.
What we would not book from Canggu
A Gili day trip. Padang Bai, where the short crossing leaves, is 2-2.5 hours from Canggu because the road crosses the whole south first, and the door-to-door trip to the islands runs 4h30-5h30 each way. Our Gili Islands from Canggu guide covers the harbours; if the islands matter, stay a night.
And a tour on the morning of an early flight. The airport is 18-25 km away and takes 40-60 minutes normally and 75-90 or more in the late-afternoon rush, so book the airport transfer and keep the last morning free. The airport to Canggu guide has the timings.
