Sanur is the one base where the island day starts on foot: every fast boat to Nusa Penida leaves from the port inside the town, so our east route can simply meet you there at 07:00. Ubud is 45-70 minutes inland, the Mount Batur sunrise is a 1.5-2 hour drive with a 01:30-02:00 pickup, and the airport is 20-30 minutes off-peak and 45-60 at rush hour. Below is every tour we run from Sanur with its pickup time, drive and price, and what we would not book from here.

Top picks from this guide
#1
Nusa Penida
From a Sanur hotel the morning starts on foot. The east tour meets at Sanur port at 07:00, 10-12 hours from $75; the west tour is from $49 per car for up to six. Nusa Penida from Sanur walks the day.
#2
Manta Point snorkelling
The same port serves the manta trip: $29 per person with guide and gear, $46 with the return fast boat from Sanur. Mantas are at the cleaning station all year; the sea decides the day, and nobody can promise a sighting.
#3

Sanur lands between the two: 1.5-2 hours on the road and a pickup at 01:30-02:00. The hike is from $35; the jeep is $60 with hotel pickup. Sanur to Mount Batur has the night hour by hour.
#4
Ubud and the rice terraces
Ubud is 45-70 minutes from Sanur, one of the shorter runs from the coast. The Ubud route collects at 08:00, runs 10 hours and is from $65 per car for up to five plus $22 tickets per person.

Which tours pick up from Sanur?
All of the ones in the table below. Sanur is in the standard pickup area of our day tours, and it is the one place where the sea days are shorter than anywhere else: the Nusa Penida boats leave from the town, so the day starts with a walk or a few minutes in the car. The comparisons with the neighbours are in Sanur or Nusa Dua and Ubud or Sanur.
Prices are either per car or per person. The car tours, Ubud, UNESCO, east Bali, Tanah Lot and Bedugul, and the private car, are priced per vehicle for up to five, with entrance tickets per person on top where the route has them; the west Nusa Penida tour is per car for up to six. The Batur formats, the manta trip and the east Penida route are per person.

Nusa Penida and the sea from Sanur
This is what Sanur is for. Every fast boat to Nusa Penida leaves from the port inside the town, so a Sanur guest skips the drive that costs Canggu and Uluwatu 60-90 minutes each way. Our east route, with Diamond and Atuh beaches, meets at the port at 07:00; the west loop is from $49 per car for up to six; and the manta trip is from $29 per person. The crossing itself is 30-45 minutes; the boat detail is in Sanur to Nusa Penida by fast boat.
The Gilis are the exception. Sanur has direct boats to Gili Trawangan, but they all leave between 08:45 and 09:30 and take 3h to 3h45, so they do not rescue a day trip; the islands deserve at least a night. For the sea from the beach itself, Sanur sits behind a fringing reef and stays calm most of the year, which is why it suits families with small children.
Ubud, Mount Batur and the interior
Sanur is a good base for the interior too. Ubud is 45-70 minutes inland, so the Ubud route, 10 hours from $65 per car, spends its day in the terraces rather than on the road. Mount Batur is 1.5-2 hours away and the pickup is at 01:30-02:00, between the south coast and Ubud; the hike from $35 and the jeep at $60 with pickup are the two ways up.
The heritage and east routes collect from Sanur as well: the UNESCO tour from $65 per car plus $20 tickets, and the east Bali tour with the Lempuyang gates from $65 per car plus $18 tickets. The airport is 20-30 minutes off-peak and 45-60 at rush hour; our airport to Sanur guide has the last-boat timings for arrival day.
What we would not book from Sanur
A Gili day trip, for the reason above: the direct boats leave too late and take too long for a day. Our Gili Islands fast boat guide compares Sanur, Serangan and Padang Bai for an overnight trip.
And a Nusa Penida hotel pickup you do not need. If you are staying near the beach, meeting at the port is simpler than a car, and on the east route it is the standard option; tell us where you stay on WhatsApp and we will say which works.
